Appingedam - Een schuur achter een woning aan de Nieuwstraat in Appingedam is woensdagavond door brand verwoest. Rond tien over acht werd de brandweer van Delfzijl gealarmeerd en was snel ter plaatse.
Er werd opgeschaald naar middelbrand om verdere uitbreiding te voorkomen. De brandweer slaagde er al snel in om de brand onder controle te krijgen. De ruime omgeving werd afgezet vanwege de mogelijke aanwezigheid van asbest. De politie zal onderzoek doen naar de brand. In de schuur heeft een tijdje geleden ook al brand gewoed. Of deze branden in verband staan met elkaar is onbekend.
